Hamstring Injury, Umtiti Absent Two Months
Barcelona lost one of its flagship defender, Samuel Umtiti, in a long time Judi bola. Umtiti suffered a hamstring injury and could be absent for two months.
Umtiti pulled out in the 72nd minute when Barca drew 2-2 with Celta Vigo at Camp Nou on Saturday (2/12/2017). French defender Hamstring was troubled when he chased Iago Aspas in the process of creating a second Celta goal scored by Maximiliano Gomez.
Umtiti directly underwent examination and the results are not encouraging for Barca.
“The test confirmed Samuel Umtiti suffered a hamstring injury on his right foot and he is expected to be absent for about eight weeks,” Barca wrote on their official website.
Thus, Umtiti will pull over during the months of December and January. 24-year-old defender will also miss a number of important matches, one of which is the game El Clasico against Real Madrid on 23 December.
Together with Gerard Pique, Umtiti is the first choice in Barca center back. He has played in 19 games in all competitions this season.
Barca coach Ernesto Valverde has no substitute options for Umtiti as Javier Mascherano is also injured. He could not help relying on Thomas Vermaelen as Pique’s companion.
“Situations like this can come up and you have to deal with them,” Valverde said of Umtiti’s injury.
